Description

Alan Alda

Actor, writer and science lover Alan Alda shares his thoughts about why scientists need to communicate effectively with the public and how they can get better at telling the fascinating stories of science. In an engaging, personal talk, Alan Alda draws on his wide-ranging experiences to explore ways scientists can help the public understand their work and why it matters. As host of PBS’ Scientific American Frontiers, he interviewed 700 scientists around the world. Now, as a founding member of the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University, he is helping scientists connect more directly with people outside their field – from public officials, funders and the media, to potential collaborators in other disciplines, to students, friends, and family.
